Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is an evidenced- based therapy model that was originally developed for individuals with borderline personality disorder. DBT can be helpful for those who don't meet criteria for BPD. DBT can help all individuals who experience intense emotions, difficult time maintaining healthy relationships, depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, eating disorders and substance abuse.
I do provide individual DBT therapy for young adults and adults. The adolescent DBT program that I facilitate is a two-fold, which includes individual DBT therapy, along with a weekly skills group. Each individual's DBT journey is different. The program can be completed anywhere from 6 months to 12 months. I also provide family sessions while in the program to discuss family goals and progress.
There are 5 modules that you will learn:
Each skill will be taught in the weekly skills group and will be reinforced in individual therapy. In order to keep track of your goals and progress, a diary card will be provided during your initial session to complete daily. You will also have access to coaching calls for crisis situations.
